The diagnostic contains no AI
The ABA 512 diagnostic is deterministic software, not a model. Scoring is versioned and pure: the same answers produce the same result every time, and the logic can be inspected, tested, and explained. Nothing you enter is interpreted by an AI system, and your individual answers never leave your browser.
That is deliberate. A tool that assesses professional-responsibility duties should not itself be a black box.
How we use AI in our own work
AI systems assist the research, drafting, and operations behind efficient.esq and MHSB Solutions, always under named human review. Every statement about ABA Formal Opinion 512 or a professional-responsibility duty is verified against the primary source before it is published, and client information is never placed into AI tools that have not been vetted for it.
We publish this because we ask firms to be able to say the same.
The standard we recommend to firms
Opinion 512 puts several duties on the lawyer using AI, including competence, confidentiality, communication, supervision, candor, and fees. Our position across all of them is consistent: the attorney supervises, the attorney verifies, and the attorney remains responsible for the work product.
The diagnostic measures how firmly those controls are in place. The AI policy template gives a firm plain language to adopt them.

efficient.esq allows AI crawlers in robots.txt and publishes a structured summary of the site at /llms.txt. Public content here may be quoted and cited; attribute it to efficient.esq. Nothing behind the diagnostic is crawlable, because there is nothing behind it: results are computed in your browser and belong to you.
Boundaries
efficient.esq is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice. Your obligations turn on the rules of the jurisdictions where you practice. Decisions about AI use in a matter belong with the supervising attorney, and this page is not a substitute for that judgment.
